| Children at Rickamnsworth Toy library enjoy the new arrivals |
A £250 grant from Three Rivers District Council has enabled Rickmansworth Toy library, which caters for children up to eight years of age, to buy new toys to encourage children to lean about disabilities, including a teddy bear in a wheelchair and a toy guide dog.
Library volunteer Clare Street explained: "The grant has enabled us to buy some special toys which help all children to understand more about what it's like for youngsters who are disabled.
"We appreciate the council's support but we are now asking residents to come forward to help as well. We desperately need more volunteers."
Other toys loaned to parents by the service include, musical toys, board games, jigsaws, electronic learning games, tunnels, pop-up houses and ride-on toys. CDs and DVDs are also available.
Hire charges for the service range from 50p to £5 per toy.
For more information about volunteering or joining the Library residents can ring 01923 710633.
