A BOOK written to celebrate 300 years of the Watford Grammar Schools was launched on Tuesday, May 10, with suitable pomp and circumstance at the Old Free School in the town centre.
Mrs Fuller's Free School, published by Atlantic Publishing of Croxley Green, is a history of the schools compiled and edited by former headmaster Neil Hart.
At the event, Mr Hart thanked all the contributors, most of whom were in attendance.
The current headteachers of both schools were also present and Mr Hart praised them for allowing him access to their archives and the freedom to visit the schools at times convenient to him.
He also thanked the Watford Observer for its help in publicising the book, which is available from either school and from branches of Waterstones and Borders.
After several hearty rounds of applause and a toast to founder Elizabeth Fuller, the many guests were left to enjoy mingling and eating throughout the evening.
The book itself was also on sale and was readily signed for purchasers by Mr Hart.
Copies of Mrs Fuller's Free School can be obtained by telephoning Watford Grammar School for Boys on 01923 208900 or Watford Grammar School for Girls on 01923 223403.
