Appropriately during the National Year of Reading, the range of books available from Hertfordshire Libraries has been rated as "excellent" in an independent health check of library stock.
The national survey places Hertfordshire second out of all 149 local authorities in England.
The Stock Quality Health Check was carried out across the country by the specialist reading agency, Opening the Book.
