Dom Sokalski and Giuseppe Scalisi, both 6th Form pupils at Rickmansworth School, recently arranged a Ricky Jam at Croxley Skate Park.
The event was held in memory of their friend, Richard Johnson, who sadly died suddenly from leukaemia in May last year, just before his 16th birthday.
The boys worked with Three Rivers District Council to organise the event and the Council kindly agreed to provide a memorial plaque for Richard. This plaque was unveiled at the Jam by Dom, with lots of Richard’s friends, some of his teachers and his parents and brother in attendance.
Dom had a collection amongst the friends and raised £150 which they are donating to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge, where Richard received treatment.
Dom also arranged a Ricky Jam in memory of Richard shortly after he passed away last year and he hopes that this will become an annual event, so that friends can get together, remember Richard and also have a fun day.
“The Council was pleased to be able to support Dom and Giuseppe in their efforts to organise a skate jam at Croxley Skate Park in memory of their friend Richard.
“We’re always keen to hear from and work with local young people on their ideas for leisure activities,” said Councillor Whately-Smith, Community and Leisure Services Portfolio Holder at Three Rivers District Council.
