Watford Observer and Watersmeet with Paul Holman Associates announce Fame Factor - the search-for-a-pantomime-star!

Following the launch of the hugely successful PHA, Ram FM & Derby LIVE Fame Factor competition in 2009, this popular search-for-a-pantomime-star talent competition now comes to Hertfordshire...and promises to be the biggest and the best search for local talent in the area.

The winner of Fame Factor 2010 will star in the Paul Holman Associates magical pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk, at Watersmeet, Rickmansworth from 7 to 31 December 2010. They will also perform at the pantomime launch party later in October when they will be joined by the cast of pantomime, headlined by Birds of Feather star Linda Robson.

The role offered to the winner will be subject to casting opportunities, the winner’s act and their availability, but this could be your chance to dance and dazzle with our pantomime dame, sing with our panto princess, climb a beanstalk and street dance your way into the giant’s castle or act your way out of panto madness and mayhem! Whether you’re a dance group, a soloist, a brass band, a double-act or a church choir, we want to see you at Watersmeet this summer!

Who knows where this Fame Factor adventure could take you! Last year's winner of the Derby Fame Factor competition was contortionist Lucy Mather. She starred alongside Neil Morrissey and Eternal's Kelle Bryan in the pantomime Cinderella, appearing in twenty-three shows and performing to over 20,000 people.

Auditions in Derby this year have already seen a football freestyle act fly out to Dubai to perform in part of the build up to World Cup football fever so the Watford Observer and Watersmeet Fame Factor competition could be just what you need to kick start your career!

So if you’ve got what it takes to show a professional panel of judges your special, show-stopping talent which could see you taking a trip to pantoland to perform alongside Linda Robson in this year's Watersmeet pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk then we want to see YOU at the Fame Factor auditions this summer!

Auditions take place on Sunday 1 August and are open to family members and supporters only.

The closing date for applications is Monday 19 July at 4.30pm.

What happens then?

If your application is successful, you will be invited to attend a first audition at Watersmeet, Rickmansworth on Sunday 1 August. If you are successful at the first audition, you will be invited to call-backs on Sunday 15 August, where you will work on your act with the pantomime producers. Performers will then be selected to proceed to the live heats on Thursday 9 and Friday 10 September and the Final will take place on Friday 1 October.

The heats will take place before the public and Fame Factor judges who will pick 10 acts to go through to the final. The public will then have an opportunity to vote in two acts from the heats via the Watford Observer paper and website so two wild card entries will be part of the Fame Factor Final on Friday 1 October at Watersmeet, Rickmansworth.
