Five parks in Harrow have been awarded the accolade of being one of the best green spaces in the country.

Roxeth Recreation Ground, Canons Park, Harrow Recreation Ground, Pinner Memorial Park and Kenton Recreation Ground were recognised by the Green Flag Award Scheme.

Cllr Graham Henson, cabinet member for environment expressed his “delight” at the award,

He said: “Our parks and open spaces are loved and enjoyed by all our residents and we are absolutely delighted that five of our parks once again received Green Flag Awards.

“I’d like to thank all volunteers and staff who have worked extremely hard to keep our parks and open spaces to a high standard so that they can be enjoyed and used by everyone.”

International Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd added: “We are delighted to be celebrating another record-breaking year for the Green Flag Award scheme.

“Each flag is a celebration of the thousands of staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.

“The success of the scheme, especially in these challenging times, demonstrates just how much parks matter to people.”
