A councillor joined forces with staff from a food manufacturing business to help clear up the rubbish that had collected around a leisure centre.

Cllr Niraj Dattani donned his hi-vis jacket and teamed up with more than 30 workers from Bakkavor Pizza at Harrow Leisure Centre in an effort organised by Chintan Meha.

The group collected 34 bags of litter from around the venue and Chintan said he hopes that the work can be replicated in the future.

“Cleaner streets are to everyone’s benefit, it makes it a nicer place to live and work,” he said.

“We employ many local residents and we want to do our bit within the community. It is important that we look after Harrow, our business and local area.

“We encourage other businesses to do the same and help us to make a positive change in Harrow.”

Cllr Dattani praised the turnout for the litter pick and said that he hopes it inspires more and more people to get involved when similar events are scheduled.

“Everyone has a responsibility to help make Harrow clean and it’s great to see a local business work with us to keep the borough tidy,” he added.
