An athletics club has launched a special family fun run to go alongside an upcoming half marathon race.
Harrow Athletics Club is still taking entries for the Harrow Half Marathon but also wants people to sign up for the Sir Roger Bannister Family Mile.
Dave Gordon, from Harrow AC, explained that they want as many people to come out and test themselves against Sir Roger’s famous time of 3:59.4.
He added that they are particularly targeting their effort at schoolchildren, especially those who attend Vaughan Primary School in West Harrow since this was where Sir Roger went.
The Family Mile will take place at 9.20am at Harrow School on September 17. There are two age categories – 4-15 and 16 and over and entry costs £5.
The Harrow Half Marathon is on the same day, starts at Harrow-on-the-Hill and finishes in the grounds of Harrow School.
