A mother whose son’s workplace was destroyed in a huge fire has set up a crowdfunding page to help the company back on its feet.

On September 15 an enormous blaze ripped through Pacestar Joinery’s warehouse in Chantry Place, Harrow, destroying much of what was inside including a number of expensive tool sets.

Nicola Brown, whose son is undertaking an apprenticeship at the business and has spent hundreds of pounds on tools, has created the fundraiser to hopefully go some way to replacing the equipment.

“Over the last couple of days the devastation of what this fire means has been playing heavily on my every waking moment,” she wrote.

“Some of these men have families and mortgages, everything is uncertain at the moment, lives may be turned upside down over the next few days and weeks.

"One thing is absolutely certain though – they will all need to purchase their tools again to continue their trade.”

Ms Brown noted how those working at Pacestar are “ordinary men” and that everyone needs a bit of help some times, particularly after something as destructive as this.

The fire, which blazed for several hours overnight, caused a number of explosions and nearby houses had to be evacuated.

It was brought under control following swift and extensive work from London Fire Brigade and nobody was hurt.
