A hospice is gearing up for its “most meaningful event of the year” by encouraging people to remember their loved ones this December.

St Luke’s Hospice in Harrow is holding the ‘Light up a Life’ day to allow people to celebrate the lives of their family and friends who have died.

The event takes place on December 3 between 4.30pm and 5.30pm in the hospice grounds in Kenton Lane.

There will be talks from St Luke’s staff, a personal account of the care provided there and musical performances from Harrow Apollo Male Choir and Rock Choir.

People can dedicate a light at the hospice tree and join hundreds of others from the community in lighting a candle in honour of their loved ones.

The tree, which will be switched on at the end of the event, will stay lit until January 5.

Organisers of the event explained that the afternoon is a good way for people to remember and celebrate those they have lost – something which can often be difficult.
