A “partially collapsed” chalk mine forced a Pinner school into an emergency closure in March, leading to fears that the upheaval would damage pupils’ development.

Geotechnical surveys showed that the ground beneath Pinner Wood School, in Latimer Gardens, could be deemed “unsafe”.

Students and staff were moved to a temporary location provided by Harrow Council, which led to parental concerns.

However, the school embraced the challenge posed by the chalk mine and achieved positive exam results in the run up to its return to its original site.

Storm Doris left its mark on the streets of Harrow, with a number of trees brought down by the weather and litter inadvertently strew across pavements.

And a father-of-two was stabbed to death while he waited for his young daughter to buy sweets.

Mohamed Al-Zufairi was attacked by Abraham Omotoso in Wealdstone High Street in broad daylight and later died of his injuries. Omotoso, of Tudor Gardens, Harrow, was jailed for manslaughter for 18years.
