A former grammar school girl is using social media to organise a school reunion for her classmates of 1972.

Carolyn Keene (nee Gibson), 56, of Watford, is appealing for her schoolmates at the former St Dominic’s Grammar School for Girls in Harrow, to join old friends for a party on July 5.

Carolyn has started a Facebook page entitled “Class of 1972 - St Dominic’s Girls Reunion” inviting her old school chums to confirm attendance at the now sixth form college at Harrow-on the-Hill.

Carolyn said: “Last year I visited one of my old school friends who now lives in Sri Lanka, obviously we talked about our school days and we came up with a plan to try and organise a reunion.”

Carolyn: "It could be a very special day.”

Watford Observer:

So far, 14 people have confirmed including someone in Sri Lanka, two ladies in Spain and one in Italy, but Carolyn is keen for more people to get in touch, including old teachers.

She said: “We’ve really struggled to track people down because some of the girls are now married with different surnames – we only recall maiden names.”

“But I am hopeful because it was such a small school with just two classes and it could be a very special day.”

The current college principal, Andrew Parkin has offered to give the ladies a guided tour of their old classrooms on the night. There will also be dinner and drinks.

Carolyn added: “I am hoping that maybe some of them or their families are still in the Harrow and Watford area and may be able to help.”

“It’s so nice to think people are already coming along from so far away and it probably won’t happen again.”
