Upon launching Taylors estate agents’ new campaign, “It’s a good time to move”, the firm’s managing director Peter Wallace says: “While it appears the housing market is in a state of doom and gloom and negative media, we have actually seen buyers and sellers taking advantage of the many reasons why it’s a good time to move.”

Peter explains: “Most of our buyers and sellers are surprised to see what is actually available, at what price, and, how much less it can cost to move today compared to recent years. People are starting to realise that the reasons why they might not be moving are in fact the reasons why they should.”

Peter adds: “Interest rates are at their lowest level in UK history, making borrowing more affordable.

“The stamp duty threshold was raised so that more buyers save more money. In addition, we are seeing property prices at their lowest point in years making the step up more achievable for many buyers. This means that owning a property today is realistic and more and more first-time buyers can make their first step on to the property ladder after having been priced out of the market over the past few years. We are also able to help people reinvesting in today’s market buy their next house for considerably less, which means if required they will be borrowing less money for their next mortgage.”

Peter says: “For three days in December, we launched a campaign called the Countrywide end of year property sale and it proved to be a huge success.

“In fact it proved that buyers and sellers were taking advantage of the housing market today and seemed to be moving at potentially lower cost compared to 2007. We subsequently agreed more new sales in December 2008 than in 2007 which was supposed to be a ‘better market!’ according to so called experts.”

In January, figures from Taylors Estate Agents’ 39 offices showed, there were more than 600 new properties on the market, they agreed around 400 new sales and its agents registered around 3,600 new buyers – so, is it a good time to move?
