Watford’s best barber has been crowned in the Watford Observer’s Your Favourite Awards.

Master Cut in Courtlands Drive Watford were “delighted” after being selected as the latest winners in the awards, which recognise local businesses across range of sectors, in the 'Barbers' category voted on in September and October last year.

The traditional Turkish barbershop has been open in the town for eight years and draws on staff’s long-time experience in the industry.

Director and senior stylist Ozzy Kelangin said: “The team are delighted about winning the competition, it’s a shared triumph that reflects our collective dedication to excellence.”

He added that he was confident, once Master Cut’s made the top five, that it had a good shot of winning because of the relationship it had built with its customers.

“We’ve been here eight years everyone knows us and trusts us,” he explained. “We have a community where anything like this they will always be behind us.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for being a crucial part of our journey.”

Fellow director and senior stylist Simon Komurtu said: “We would like to thank all of our loyal customers that have been supporting us ever since we have opened and it really means the world to us to win the competition.”

Customers apparently appreciated the cleanliness and professionalism of the business, but also the welcoming atmosphere staff create.

Winning feels fantastic,” senior stylist Sedat Guvenc added. “Your satisfaction is our daily victory”.

The Watford location is gearing up for a refurbishment by the end of this year and Master Cut has also recently opened a new location in How Wood.

Watford Observer’s 'Your Favourite' winners receive an engraved trophy and a vinyl banner. The barbers was one of five that were nominated.

Going into 2024, the Watford Observer is keeping the Your Favourite competitions alive with even more opportunities for local businesses to get involved. New themes will be on their way in 2024, including Volunteer of the Year.

Nominations for Your Favourite Gym open on Monday 1st January 2024 online and in print for 2 weeks. Good luck to all local businesses and again thanks for your support and participation in the competitions.
