A popular restaurant which has served dishes for decades has delighted customers by announcing it is no longer selling.

News that Bushey’s top-rated restaurant according to Tripadvisor, St James, was put up for auction in January was met with sadness from customers who enjoyed the modern gastro-dining experience.

Today’s (April 4) U-turn announcement will therefore give diners a reason to celebrate.

In a post to Facebook, the High Street restaurant said: “Fantastic news, we are no longer selling the business.

“This decision comes from our hearts.”

St James added that it was “excited” to share that it would now be serving the same amazing food that it has since 1997 “for many years to come”.

Customers responded to the “brilliant news” with delight and shared their hopes that St James would continue creating dishes for a long time.

When the freehold was placed on the market it was described as a “genuine retirement sale” with a £750,000 starting price.
