Indiana Jones, Four Weddings and Funeral, and The Inbetweeners Movie are among the star-studded line-up of films shot outside just the Leavesden Studios.
Acknowledging that Warner Bros Studios “has helped put Three Rivers on the film map globally”, Three Rivers District Council has shared a list highlighting the blockbusters featuring locations elsewhere in the area.
Take a look at the list below:
Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) and Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade (1989)
Former students may notice that the fictional Marshall College and Barnett College scenes where Harrison Ford’s character teaches are not actually in the US.
The classroom backdrops were at the Royal Masonic School for Girls in Chorleywood Road, Rickmansworth.
The interior was used to depict Marshall College in Raiders of the Lost Ark and both the interior and exterior depicted Barnett College in The Last Crusade.
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004)
The second film in the Bridget Jones Series features Stocker’s Farm, Stockers Farm Road, in Rickmansworth when Renee Zellweger’s character jumps out of an airplane for a segment of the show she works for, Sit-Up Britain.
She parachutes down and lands in one of the farm’s pig dens.
Return to Oz (1985)
The Wizard of Oz sequel was mostly filmed in Salisbury Plain, Wiltshire and Elstree Studios, Borehamwood, but the forest at night scenes were shot at Chorleywood Common.
Dorothy’s old house and the ruins of the Yellow Brick Road were filmed in Whippendell Wood.
The Inbetweeners Movie (2011)
Just as in the TV show, exterior shots of four houses in Leavesden were used for main characters Will, Simon, Neil, and Jay’s homes.
They are in Edinburgh Drive, Cardiff Drive, and Whitley Close.
Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994)
The first of the four titular weddings was shot in Sarratt’s 52-acre Goldingtons residence, which has 30 rooms.
Children of Men (2006)
Stocker’s Farm made another film appearance in a very different production from Bridget Jones when scenes were used for the dystopian action thriller.
It was used to depict a safe house.
A Bridge Too Far (1977)
Moor Park Mansion, in Rickmansworth, was used as the exterior for the headquarters of the 1st Airborne Corps in the Richard Attenborough-directed war epic based on the real Operation Market Garden.
