Northwood Through Time, by Eileen M Bowlt, is the latest in the popular nostalgia series from Amberley Publishing that takes a look at local areas as they once looked and as they look now.
The book contains a fascinating selection of photographs that trace some of the many ways in which Northwood has changed and developed over the last century, and has chapters dealing with Northwood’s natural resources, such as clay, sand, chalk and flint; its medieval sites, such as The Grange and Green Close; its sporting history; its rural areas and its farms.
There is also information on Northwood’s history, including that of its churches, its changing geography and architecture, and its development into a suburb.
