Don’t put your World Book Day costumes away just yet, you can get another wear out of them.

At the Big Wordfest Launch Parade on Saturday (March 11), the second annual festival, Watford Borough Council is encouraging everyone to wear their outfits again.

Your little ones can meet Peter Rabbit, Alice in Wonderland, Little Red Riding Hood and other favourites at Watford Museum, with craft activities starting at 11am before the Big Wordfest parade through town at 12.30pm, dropping into Waterstones and then finishing at Watford Central Library.

Elected Mayor of Watford, Dorothy Thornhill said: “Do dress up as your favourite book character and join our Big Wordfest Parade on Saturday. We’d love to see you there.  Last year’s Wordfest was such a delight with its Roald Dahl theme and Shakespeare celebrations; we wanted to bring the fun back again.”

Events, which will run almost every day until April 30, include a huge a variety of genres, writing workshops, theatre, comedy, author talks and more; with lots for adults and just as much for children and young people.

“This year we are igniting our passion for words, and with more partners and more events, you won’t want to miss out on the excitement,” Dorothy adds. “We have something for all ages and interests, from children’s activities to improvised opera and writing competitions for all ages, right up to book club and author events for adults. Don’t miss the fantastic range of theatre either.”
