Our Story: My first year of studying to become a children’s nurse was over but so, it seemed, was my health.

It was Christmas morning when I discovered a lump five years' ago. It was just an early morning stretch. I kept it to myself during that Christmas with my family, but it was tough, especially when dad was rushed into hospital with an infection around his heart.

A rollercoaster, that’s what I would call the next three years but all around me were people I loved, and who loved me back.

Lee was there, my friend and comedian, he always made me laugh when no one else could. But, I held myself back, I couldn’t get close, after all I may not be around much longer.

The time passed and against all odds I became a stronger and happier woman than ever before and said yes to a date at long last!

Now every Christmas is filled with happy memories of a proposal and the planning of our wedding, the happiest day of our lives and the beginning of a beautiful life together.
