An actor from Mill Hill stars in the British horror-thriller The Harsh Light of Day, which is out next week.

“It’s a fantastic thriller that happens to involve vampires,” says Giles Alderson, 35, who also runs his own film company. “The main character, played by Dan Richardson, has just been attacked by thugs, he’s in a wheelchair, and his wife was killed. My character, Infurnari, comes along and offers him the opportunity for revenge.

“I’m really proud of it. It’s pretty hard-hitting and really cool, I’m very excited about it.”

The film was shot on location in Dorset, in a disused cottage. “They were just about to knock it down, so we couldn’t go back and do any reshoots!” The film is the first offering from British writer and director Oliver S Milburn.

Giles, who is originally from Harrogate in North Yorkshire, studied for a performing arts degree at the University of Hertfordshire, at the now-closed Wall Hall campus in Aldenham, and then trained at the Drama Studio London in Ealing.

His first major role was in the film I Want Candy, with Mackenzie Crook and Carmen Electra, and he played Colin Todd in The Damned United, alongside Michael Sheen, Timothy Spall and Jim Broadbent. Later this year, his film E’Gad Zombies will be released – in which he stars with Sir Ian McKellen.

“He gets attacked, he was really good fun,” says Giles. “We were in awe of this great man and he was just standing there having a great time!”

The Harsh Light of Day is released in cinemas nationwide on Friday, June 8. Details: www.multistoryfilms.wix.com/harshlight For updates follow Giles on Twitter @Gold_FilmsUK
