Over the past seven weeks we have been thoroughly entertained and delighted by the high standard of creativity our competition entrants have shown.
The diversity of subjects and styles of writing really impressed our judges and it was very hard to come to a decision as to which of our budding authors should win the write4kicks prize of a weeks' residential writing course in the summer.
In the end, Hannah Campbell's story was chosen for its sheer imaginative approach. Hannah was delighted with her prize and gave the following reponses to our questions:
How long ago did you write the piece?
Well, to be honest this piece was written especially to submit to the competition, so I didn't write it too long ago.
Which school do you go to?
Queens' School - an awesome school, with awesome people!
How long did it take you to write?
It didn't take me too long to write the piece, probably about a day or two. Although I did have to come up with an idea and then develop it, which took a little more time.
Is English your favourite subject?
English is one of my favourite subjects, and I prefer literature to language - I enjoy it now in AS Level having fun with my close friend, Maryam.

What other things do you like studying?
Most of my subjects are quite creative. I quite enjoy Art and Textiles.
Do you have other hobbies?
My other hobbies would include reading and drawing, of course, as well as sports like high jump and jogging with my friends. Other than that and the occasional social events, I enjoy watching films, not just from Hollywood cinema but international cinema also.
Which authors do you read?
I don't tend to read specific authors, instead if I like a book I'll more than likely look for another title of theirs, but usually its the story that catches me.
Although I am a fan of the CHERUB series by Robert Muchamore and at the moment I quite like Thr3e by Ted Dekker, and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's Half of a Yellow Sun was amazing.
What do you want to go on and do after your studies?
After my studies I want to go into the film or art industry, preferably the film industry as a screenwriter and then later become a director, directing my own scripts.
What will be the title of your first book?
To be honest, I'd have to finish writing the book before coming up with the title. For me the title tends to come from the story, instead of the story from the title.
I want to go into the film industry as a screenwriter and then later become a director

And the runners-up were:
IT WAS hard to come up with the final winner, who will be off on the write4kicks course this summer, as well as receiving prizes of books, but hopefully our three runners-up will be happy with their prizes as well.
Each will receive a hardback copy of international thriller writer James Patterson's latest book in his pacy, action-packed Maximum Ride series. The Final Warning sees our heroine pitted against an entire army.
Maximum Ride is an ordinary teenage girl in many ways, it just happens that she's also able to fly as the result of an out-of-control government experiment. Max and the other members of the Flock - six kids who share her remarkable ability- have been asked to aid a group of environmental scientists studying the causes of global warming.
In this latest episode, Max and the gang must overcome their legion of adversaries and perhaps save the planet as well. Edge of your seat stuff from start to finish.
Chorleywood Bookshop has also offered to donate books to our winners. They are arranging a gift for our overall winner as well as runner-up prizes. All of these will be ready to collect from the bookshop at 4 New Parade, Chorleywood, WD3 5NJ.
Contact Sheryl at the bookshop for details on 01923 283566. ID will be required.
And now for the moment you've all been waiting for. The runners-up are as follows:
Laurence Bisdee, age 13
Laurence made us laugh with his amusing story Attempted Murder about the War of the Rodents. This sci-fi tale conjured up images of paintballing exercises. Laurence's tale would make a great episode of Primeval.
Holly Stevenson, age 14
The powerful impression left by Holly's story was hard to beat. We could feel the tension in the atmosphere and Holly really placed her readers at the heart of the deluge. A great piece of writing.
Ruth Irwin, age 15
Taking a whistlestop tour through Ruth's house was great fun. It was amazing to see such a wide variety of words in Ruth's tale. Like the winning story, there was some fantastic stream-of-consciousness style in this entry.
Thank you to all our entrants for such an imaginative array of writing.
