How would you fancy enjoying a champagne toast with your loved one as you glide above the British countryside in a hot air balloon? Or how about spending a romantic weekend in an old English manor house?

If you get yourself down to the Watford Observer Family Funday this Sunday, you could be in with a chance of winning one of these two fabulous experiences.

Enter our funday raffle and you could win a Virgin champagne balloon ride for two or a weekend for two at Mercure Letchworth Hall Hotel.

Other prizes up for grabs include a trip to see Watford FC in training, family tickets for Warner Bros Studio Tour London, a bottle of House of Commons branded whisky which has been signed by Prime Minister David Cameron, and a whole load more.

There’s something for everyone in the family to enjoy at our first ever Family Funday, with events taking place throughout the day, including funfair rides, craft stalls, bouncy castles, a Punch and Judy show, a motor show supported by local dealers, live music from local new wave rock band The Ives, dancing displays, self defence demonstrations, food and drink, including cookery demonstrations, Irish dancing, and a penalty shoot-out.

For those of you that enjoy a little tipple (hopefully in the sun), we have commissioned a Watford Observer Celebration Ale from our friends at Pope’s Yard Brewery in Riverside Road, Watford, to help the day go along smoothly.

The highlight of the day kicks off in the afternoon – a charity football match in which the Arsenal Legends take on the might of the Watford Observer All Stars.

The Legends are made up of former pros from the Gunners as well as TV, music and sports stars, such as actor Ralf Little, Tony Hadley from Spandau Ballet, Phil Daniels from EastEnders, and TV builder Tommy Walsh.

The All Stars comprise local amateurs, Watford Observer staff and Watford FC legends Alan Smart, Neil Price and Derek Payne. The match starts at 1pm and after the game one of the playing shirts will be up for auction.

All money raised will go to the Watford Observer’s chosen charity, Keech Hospice, which provides specialist palliative care for adults and children living in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire who are suffering from life-limiting illnesses.
