 There’s plenty to get the holidays off to a flying start on Sunday, February 16 with The Battlefields Trust’s guided walk around the site of one of the most dramatic battles of the Wars of the Roses, the Second Battle of St Albans in 1461, kicking off at 11.30am outside the St Albans Tourist Information Centre. Details: Harvey Watson on 07818 853385.

Encourage the kids to get all their dramatics out on stage at The Wizard Of Oz open auditions at Alban Arena from 10-11.30am (eight-12 years old) and 11.30am-12.30pm (13-21 years old). The show will be performed at the Arena on July 10-12. Details: 01727 844488, alban-arena.co.uk

On Monday, February 17 from 10.30am to 12.30pm join the Museum of St Albans in Hatfield Road for a morning of Doctor Who fun and make a tardis- inspired souvenir to take away with you. Suitable for children aged six-11. Details: 01727 819340

A Saxon Slaying will need investigating on Tuesday, February 18 from 10.30am to 12.30pm with the Museum of St Albans, with the chance to look for clues and then create a watercolour of part of the story.

Take a trip into the world of Walt Disney and his quest to bring Mary Poppins to the big screen when Alban Arena shows Saving Mr Banks (PG) from 7.30pm.

Go back to Cromwellian England on Wednesday, February 19 from 10.30am and find out about the Wheathampstead Highway Robber at the Museum of St Albans. Suitable for children aged six-11 years.

Another helping of history can be enjoyed at Alban Arena’s screening of The Butler (12A) at 1.30pm and 7.30pm.

CBeebies favourites Chris & Pui will be at the Arena on Thursday, February 20 at 11am and 2pm, bringing songs, rhymes, comedy sketches and lots of joining in for all the family.

Over at the Verulamium Museum, in St Michael’s Street, there will be a drop-in gladiators craft event from 2-4pm, suitable for children aged three-11 years. Details: 01727 751810.

Old MacDonald Had a Farm will be performed by The People’s Theatre Company at Hawthorne Theatre from 2.30pm.
