Next year marks 20-years since the Spice Girls released their hit single, Wannabe.

To celebrate the milestone, a special exhibition dedicated to the Girl Power group will be hosted in Ginger Spice - a.k.a Geri Halliwell's - hometown of Watford.

Spiceworld: The Exhibition will be in place at the Watford Colosseum from July 2016 and will celebrate the story of how Sporty, Baby, Scary, Ginger and Posh became the most successful girl group of all time.

The basis for the exhibition is the Guinness World Record-breaking collection of artist and curator Liz West, who is the foremost collector of Spice Girls memorabilia and merchandise in the world.

"I am thrilled that Watford Colosseum are hosting my iconic Spice Girls collection in 2016 - 20 years after the release of the Spice Girls' first single Wannabe," says Liz.

She continues: "It seems very fitting for the collection to be in Geri's home town in this important anniversary year. I hope visitors enjoy getting up close to these amazing hand-made couture outfits worn by the girls in their 90s heyday!"

The collection has even been given a special seal of approval by Scary Spice, Mel B who says: “I really hope that everyone will like this exhibition. It is truly an honour to have such an extensive collection of our past be brought out for everyone to enjoy.”

Watford Colosseum’s venue director, David Mansfield, says: “I’m often asked what we want, what we really really want at the Colosseum, and this exhibition seemed like a really, really natural fit.

"We have a very diverse programme of events catering to everyone from Dancing Queens to Tribal Spacemen… and all that’s in between. So the opportunity to Spice Up Your Life with this free exhibition was simply too good to miss – especially as Watford is Ginger Spice’s home town.”

Spiceworld: The Exhibition opens at the Watford Colosseum, Rickmansworth Road, Watford, on Thursday, July 7 2016 and runs to Sunday, August 7. Details: 01923 571102, watfordcolosseum.co.uk
