THE spirit of dance genius Gene Kelly will live again as the all-time classic story Singin’ in the Rain, an MGM film, is revisited by Cassio Productions at Watford Palace Theatre.

The action is set during the advent of talkies. Don Lockwood (Matt Bund) has risen to stardom during Hollywood's silent-movie era - paired with the beautiful, jealous and dumb Lina Lamont. When Lockwood becomes attracted to young studio singer Kathy Selden (Kathleen Paynter), Lamont has her fired. But with the introduction of talking pictures, Lockwood finds his career in jeopardy after audiences laugh when they hear Lamont speak in her shrill voice for the first time... until the studio decides to use Selden to dub her voice.

Singin’ in the Rain has all the charm, romance, comedy and tinsel glamour of the much-loved film. The book is adapted by Betty Comden and Adolph Green from their original screenplay and the show features all the glorious MGM songs by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed including Good Morning, Make ‘em Laugh, Moses Supposes and the legendary

Singin’ in the Rain.

Nikki Scott returns as director with Martin Smith as musical director. Also returning is choreographer Jo Bispham, following rave reviews for last year’s The Wedding Singer.

Matt Bund and Kathleen Paynter were both seen last year in The Wedding Singer.
