Summer woodland captured in paint, orchids in photographs, hand-painted silks inspired by flowers, sunlight and the sky, places depicted in gouache.

North Finchley has an abundance of artists working in all mediums and now a local artist has plans to create an art collective in N12.

Ann Froomberg has been a part of the East Finchley Open group for nearly ten years and hopes to create something similar for the artists of North Finchley.

“I love the mutual support, joint projects and general camaraderie,“ says the freelance textile designer, who specialises in hand-painted silks.

“I moved to North Finchley in September 2007 and found there is no similar group in this area.“

With this in mind, Ann joined the North Finchley Town Team earlier this year and now artsdepot has offered its community wall to promote artists from the area, and a small group of local artists will be displaying and selling their work until Christmas.

The artists exhibiting alongside Ann include painters Eugenia Alekseyev, Judy Gilley, Leilani Roosman and Maya Hornick, photographers Briggit Angst and Nivine Keating, graphic artist Lauret Hodgson, and silk painter Tania Lixenberg.

“This is the first project from this local group of artists and maybe the embryo of a new art community here in N12.“
