It’s all change at Stephens House and Gardens. Not only has the historic home and gardens of Henry Charles ‘Inky’ Stephens in Finchley recently been renamed from Avenue House, but it is now also to be home to a changing exhibition of local artists’ work throughout the year.
North London Artist Network (NLAN), the network of professional artists living or working in north London, was invited to form a new partnership with Stephens House, the Grade II listed building on East End Road.
Manager Malcolm Godfrey says: “The house had an institutional feel, so we were delighted to form an association with the North London Artist Network.
“Their work has refreshed and enlivened this historic building, and we hope it will encourage many more people to visit.“
The exhibition at Stephens House consists of 17 two- and three-dimensional works by members of NLAN, and runs through two rooms. The current artwork will be on display until June, when a new exhibition of members’ work will take its place.
All works are for sale, so one of them may soon be livening up a room in your house, too.
There is an open house day at Stephens House every second Sunday of the month, which is an ideal time to view the exhibition.
