Maybe it’s the teacher who taught you to be yourself, or the Watford FC player who inspired you to go out and kick a ball in the back garden. Or perhaps it’s your dear old mum, who always puts your needs before her own and got you where you are today. Whoever your hero is, you’re invited to celebrate them in the My Watford Hero competition.

Watford Museum, Watford Borough Council and the forthcoming Watford Live! festival would like you to draw, paint, photograph, print, or use any other media or art technique of someone in the town who inspires you. You can be any age to enter.

The picture has to be postcard-sized – no bigger than 150mm x 105mm – and you have until 4pm on Saturday, May 23 to submit your entry (a hard copy, which will not be returned to you). Don’t forget to include your name and contact details.

All entries will be shown on the Watford Live! website and the winning postcards will be displayed at the museum during the course of the festival in June.

Winners also have the chance to be featured in a story in the Watford Observer, explaining who their hero is and why they have chosen them.

  • Send or take your entry to Watford Museum, Lower High Street, Watford on Saturday, May 23 by 4pm. Details: watfordmuseum.org.uk
