TUCKED away in a variety of studios across Watford are talented artists, busy at work hand-crafting beautiful objects.

Although the studios are rarely open to the public, an eclectic array of craftsmen and women are set to welcome in guests during the 25th annual Herts Open Studios event this September.

In just over a week’s time, visitors will be able to watch artists in action creating paintings, jewellery, glass work, ceramics, textiles, sculpture, photography and print work. And interaction is encouraged, with some designers even allowing visitors to have a go at making something.

Organised by Herts Visual Arts, the event aims to introduce the general public, galleries and other enterprises to artists, bringing an awareness of the diversity of talent available throughout the county. A total of 200 studios across Hertfordshire are included in this year’s event.

Here’s just a small selection of what’s on offer in Watford, Hemel Hempstead and St Albans.
