Artistsmeet are hosting a new exhibition of works by an artist who has established herself across Hertfordshire.

Gail Robins paint works are “from within rather than from without,” allows her to create new, invented worlds from her studio.

“They arrive from a relationship between myself, the materials and a certain amount of mystery,” she explains. “I am interested in the intuitive process by which these worlds emerge through interaction with the materials.”

Her paintings evolve from a gathered vocabulary of abstract forms. A layering process takes place, much like a printer printing and rich surfaces are found using acrylic, enamel and oil paint.

After a career in the antiques trade, Gail took her love of painting forward studying at West Herts College of Art and Design and the University of Hertfordshire. She is now a member of Herts Visual Arts.

Gail’s vibrant paintings form a growing new collection of work, previously displayed throughout Hertfordshire.

Paintings by Gail Robins at Watersmeet, High Street, Rickmansworth WD3 1EH, until Wednesday, April 29, Monday to Friday, 10am to 40m. Details: watersmeet.co.uk
