Paper mills may be long gone in Croxley but, half a century since its inception, Croxley Camera Club is still going strong.
When the club was founded in 1960 by staff at the Dickinson Paper Mill on Croxley Moor, membership cost a guinea and meetings were held at a number of locations until the move to St Oswald’s Church Hall in 1974.
From glass plate prints through to digital images, the club has nurtured a wide range of photographic interests. The yearly programme comprises of talks, plus competitions and an annual show.
This year’s golden anniversary show will be accompanied by a DVD featuring stunning landscapes of far-flung places, as well as portraiture, close-ups and nature studies.
Cat Humphries, digital image secretary says the group has exciting plans for the future. “We’ve recently introduced a studio photography group and a digital photography group. We’ll also be introducing awards for the best print and best digital images of the year and we’re planning a yearbook of members’ images shown throughout the past season.”
The show takes place at St Oswalds Church Hall, Malvern Way, Croxley Green at 8pm on Friday, March 19.
