Two to go jousting

KNIGHTS in shining armour are aplenty at Blenheim Palace over the May Bank Holiday.

Visitors to the historic stately home between Saturday, May 3 to Monday, May 5, will be treated to a recreation of a Victorian tournament that took place in the early 1900s.

Watch as a troupe of brave knights attempt to defeat the mighty 9th Duke of Marlborough in an action-packed battle on the South Lawn.

The event promises plenty of jousting, as well as a host of other medieval disciplines including lancing of the rings, spearing the peasant's head, the Quintain and combat on foot using swords and maces.

Jousting and the Victorians takes place from Saturday, May 3 to Monday, May 5 at Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxfordshire. Details: www.blenheimpalace.com
