This garage punk band has been hotly tipped for 2014 by NME, Zane Lowe and Front Mag and you can catch them in St Albans next month. Laura Enfield catches up with them.

Who are you and what do you do?

I’m Laurie and I play guitar in a rock band called Slaves. When I’m not doing that I’m a tattoo apprentice among other things.

How did you meet?

At the Tunbridge Wells Forum. I was watching a band and Isaac jumped on stage and started rapping. That was the start of it all.

What’s with the name?

It’s just a word we liked.

Why did you want to be in a band?

I just love making music. We just wanted to make songs we liked. The first months of the band felt like a massive release to both of us. Finally making the music we wanted. Expression is real important in life I think.

What’s your aim in life?

Travel the world, play music, doing tattoos and having loads of fun along the way with loved ones.

Who’s more popular with the ladies?

We are both very lucky to be taken men by beautiful ladies.

Coolest thing that's happened to you so far?

Being on Radio 1 is insane. Playing Reading and Leeds too. People knowing our band and liking our music is always gonna be the coolest thing that has happened to us though.

What’s your song Girl Fight about?

Girls having a fight and Isaac being so disgusted he had to throw his kebab in the bin, yet he could not look away.

What inspires your music?

Life. People. Animals. Experience. The future and the past. Other bands too.

Who are you listening to right now?

Radiator Hospital, The Julie Ruin, Courtney Barnett, Enon, The Hives.

Who would you like to work with?

Damon Albarn.

Your gigs look knackering. Have you ever thought about getting some more band members?

We have thought about it. Don’t think it would ever happen though.

You like to take your tops off don’t you?

We only do it when it gets to hot. Personally I’d rather leave mine on 99 per cent of the time.

Where can people hear your music?

Head on over to www.fonthillrecords.bigcartel.com to get us on vinyl.
