Fifty talented young musicians from the Watford Youth Orchestra will be performing the music for a new ballet set to Dvorak’s New World Symphony on Sunday.
The orchestra will be performing in The Magic Mirror with Tring Park School for the Performing Arts at the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre.
The ballet tells the story of a young dancer who is kidnapped by an evil prince and taken to a new world. Her only chance of freedom lies in someone solving the secret of the magic mirror.
The Watford School of Music Youth Orchestra is a symphony orchestra of 50 young people aged between 11 and 18. They come from secondary schools from Watford and the surrounding area and rehearse at Watford School of Music. The school is one of the larger music centres run across Hertfordshire by the Hertfordshire Music Service and is conducted by John Brennan, head of string development at the school. The orchestra is the music school’s flagship group.
James Dickinson, head of Hertfordshire Music Service, says: “It is a delight to see talented young musicians and dancers working together to create such an exciting performance."
