A New project to give young people the chance to organise their own live music event is set to launch in Abbots Langley.

A professional musician will be on hand to teach 14- to 19-year-olds for eight weeks through the free Music Box scheme, organised by Three Rivers District Council.

Youngsters can try their hand at DJing, songwriting and music production, while also playing an active role in setting up, promoting and running their own event.

Elaine Johnson, community arts development officer at the council, says: “This is a great way for young people who love music to get their foot in the door, working with an experienced musician and having a clear vision to work towards. Having sessions outside of school and college hours will also make it very accessible.”

  • The project will run every Thursday from June 11 to July 30, 6pm to 8pm at Abbots Langley Community Centre, The High Street, Abbots Langley. For more information contact 01923 776611 or email leisure@threerivers.gov.uk
