HE may be in the business of promoting bands in Watford, but news of a nomination for a national award truly was music to Luke Hinton's ears.

The 35-year-old, who runs the music booking and promotion company Juicebox Live with his wife Rachael, has been shortlisted for the Live UK Music Business Awards' Indie Promoter of the Year prize.

The award celebrates promoters who have made the greatest impact on a particular city or town.

Since setting up Juicebox Live in 2007, Luke has worked to put on live shows in Watford, St Albans and across Hertfordshire.

"Our plan with Juicebox Live was to put on live music and bring great touring bands to the local area and to support bands from the local region too," says Luke, who is nominated alongside ten other independent promoters from around the UK.

Some of the touring acts he has brought to the area include: London Grammar, Chrissie Hynde, Years & Years and Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes.

And in 2013 he took over booking live acts for The Horn in St Albans, ensuring that up-and-coming bands had the opportunity to support touring groups.

He will find out if he has won the accolade at a glittering awards ceremony in central London on Thursday, October 15.
