They described their experience on last year's X Factor as like an ice-cream sundae - sweet and nutty at the same time - and now, girl band Mon Amie are supporting Jason Donovan on his latest sell out tour, which kicks off at Watford Colosseum tonight.

Mon Amie are four young girls - Honey Fine, Izzy Lock, Monifa James and Abi Dhese-Biggs - who are all studying at The Italia Conti School of Performing Arts. They also have weekend jobs, and say that there is no such thing as a “rest day” for them in order to rehearse for their forthcoming tour.

The girls, who are all foodies and enjoy going to TGI’s as well as hitting the town in Essex, particularly the nightclub Faces where Izzy works, describe themselves as a harmonising girl-group with an “urban edge”.

“We are not a typical girl band, we are bit of pop with an RnB and Gospel twist,” Izzy explains. “We are also all trained in musical theatre and I think a lot of that comes into it as well.

Looking back at their time of the X Factor, Honey says: “The X-factor was a crazy but great experience for us, we got a lot further than we thought we would and we learnt a lot from it.”

The girls, who are of course all great friends - as the name suggests - got all the way through to the six-chair challenge and even got a seat, but lost this to Melody Stone.

“The whole bootcamp experience was amazing,” adds Honey, who is from Bushey, “we made some great friends, who we are still in touch with. We also made the judges jealous as a group of us ordered Domino's pizzas.

“It was also really convenient as it was just down the road, at The Grove, so after the three days, even though it was four ‘o’ clock in the morning and we were absolutely knackered, we came back to mine and had some champagne.”

Now, set to take the stage with the Australian-born 1980s pop artist, Mon Amie hope this is the start of their career.
