BARELY into her teens, High Wycombe school girl Becky Wixon is already making waves in the music world.

"I love songwriting, and take my inspiration from everyday life, and things I like and don’t like."

The 13-year-old Wycombe High School pupil has just won a place in the London semi-finals of national competition Live and Unsigned, which aims to discover and expose individual un-manufactured musical talent.

Becky sings and plays the guitar, and impressed the Live and Unsigned judges with a song she wrote herself. And she plans to perform another self-penned song in the semi finals next month.

"I think I was the only one who had an instrument, and sang their own song, as the judges seemed surprised that I had written something," she says.

Becky, who has been playing the guitar and writing songs for about three years, has already written numerous songs, and made a name for herself locally, appearing in last year's talent show Star Factor, held at the Wycombe Swan.

If Becky wins the Live and Unsigned competition, she will be able to record her own album, a prize that means the world to her, as she explains: "The prize was one of the reasons why I entered the competition.

"It will be such a benefit for me to be able to record my own album, as I will have all my own songs, rather than covers.

"I love songwriting, and take my inspiration from everyday life, and things I like and don't like."

Becky adds: "It means I can get a properly recorded song on Myspace, which will hopefully get me noticed."

Before the Live and Unsigned semi final next month, Becky has a gig with her band Yours Sincerely at Holmer Green Football Club on Friday, February 22. And she is also appearing on Mix 107 on Monday, February 11.
