Promoting town's music scene

By Martin Booth »

IT took Dave Channel and his team 28 hours to burn 500 CDs to be given away free with copies of his music fanzine, but if that's what it takes to help spread word of Watford's fluorishing music scene, then so be it.

This month, Talk of the Town reaches its fifth issue with the CD - 15 tracks full of music by the best bands Watford has to offer - stapled pride of place within its centre pages.

"We want to help out Watford the best we can," Dave said. "We want people to know about what is going on. And we want to promote the music scene here which at the moment is great. And it also gives us something to do."

The 16-page fanzine has interviews with Watford bands and bands playing in Watford, features, reviews and gig listings. Put together by Dave and his cohorts from his own band Camel One, and friends, Talk of the Town is distributed in several venues across Watford and normally disappears within 48 hours.

Talk of the Town is released in the first week of every month and is available from Taylors, The Horns, Baraka, Sanctuary Studios and Virgin Megastore.
