More stories about: Clarendon Muse
Strumming at Madonna’s private party is just one of the accomplishments of acoustic guitarist Clive Carroll and now audiences at Watford School of Music can have a taste of his talent at Clarendon Muse this month.
Weaned in musical terms on a banjo made by his dad, Clive joined the family band in the ‘70s and has played the guitar from the age of nine. He went on to acheive first class honours in Composition and Guitar from Trinity College, London in 1988 and was awarded a prize to record Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez with the Trinity orchestra.
Ten years later, Clive played alongside his British guitar hero John Renbourn and the two went on to have a successful partnership touring Europe and the US, and collaborated on the soundtrack for the film Driving Lessons starring Julie Walters and Rupert Grint. Clive has also recorded three albums.
Event organiser Pete Wright is delighted Clive can open the new Masters of Solo Guitar series.
He says: “It’s a real coup to get someone of his calibre to play our opening night. Clive is actually touring in Cumbria in February but is kindly making his way to Watford to get our new venture off to a flying start and we’re extremely grateful."
The series opens on Wednesday, February 24.
