Right at the forefront of rap's first flowering, Public Enemy literally scared the bejaysus out of the folks with their black militancy. It was incendiary stuff, but while the hip hop nation has never completely forgotten about injustice, as far as many are concerned it has become far more interested in bragging about its sexual appetites and making sure we know how many guns it has.
Flobots are on a righteous mission to change all that and in tracks like Handlebars and Mayday!!! they might just have the chops to make a difference. Echoing the feel (if not the sound) of Public Enemy, they drill heavy metal guitars and even viola into their sonic soup while rabble rousing with indignation.
Fight With Tools is a call to arms to those who are listening.
