A dropped glass ballet slipper will spark a legendary hunt for fairytale love at Hawthorne Theatre on March 9. Float away with Vienna Festival Ballet and the classic rags to riches tale of Cinderella, set to the music of Rossini.
Watch as the poor young orphan is mistreated by her comical, ugly step-sisters and then whisked off her feet, quite literally, by a handsome prince.
The company’s new spring ballet features choreography by Sheila Styles, from the Sadlers Wells Royal Ballet, and a collection of magical music from the late, great Italian composer Gioachino Antonio Rossini.
The company’s artistic director Peter Mallek appointed Chris Nicholls, renowned conductor and musical director for ballet, to rearrange and rewrite the ballet score and it was then recorded especially for the company by the leading orchestra in Kosice, Slovakia.
Audiences will recognise some of Rossini’s most famous operas, within the ballet, La Cenerentola, The Italian Girl in Algiers together with Silken Ladder, which all add to the romance and drama.
Hawthorne Theatre, Welwyn Garden City, Sunday, March 9, 2.30pm and 5.30pm. Details: 01707 357117, hawthornetheatre.co.uk
