Artistic endevours in Watford would be greatly the poorer without Moonglow Dance Academy’s Bobbie Chatt, who is practically an institution in the town when it comes to quality musical entertainment.

Under Moonglow’s theatrical arm Brilliant Productions, Bobbie is gearing up to produce and star in Jason Robert Brown’s musical The Last Five Years at the Pump House Theatre, where she previously staged both Showstoppers! and the award-winning Company.

Bobbie, who first tried her hand at producing while appearing in the cast of the national tour of Les Miserables, is particularly looking forward to this venture.

“We have a great team in place, our band members have been drawn from the West End and touring orchestras and musical director Simon Beck is currently working on both the UK tour of The Rocky Horror Show and Victoria Wood’s Talent at the Menier Chocolate Factory. I first worked with him in Les Mis and am so delighted that he has agreed to come on board.”

The show also reunites Bobbie with her Me and My Girl co-star Matt Fowler, which was staged at Watford Palace Theatre earlier this year. Matt, who will be directing the show, has previously won acclaim for his recent productions of 42nd Street and Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens.

The Last Five Years follows the five-year relationship of emerging writer Jamie and struggling actress Cathy. The straightforward plot is given a bit of a twist, however, as Jamie narrates his side of the story from beginning to end while Cathy starts at the end and moves backwards, finishing on the day it all began.

Bobbie is enthusiastic about tackling this unique piece of writing: “Jason Robert Brown is a musical genius. He manages to encapsulate so many emotions in every number and tells the story of two people simply trying to make a relationship work. Anyone that’s ever been in a couple will understand and relate to Jamie and Cathy.

“As a performer it’s a huge challenge. Not only are there just the two of us in the cast, but we have to skip back and forward over time periods of years, literally in seconds.”

Joining Bobbie on stage is Nadeem Crowe, who was one of the leads in the London professional production of Zanna Don’t!.

The Last Five Years is at the Pump House Theatre from Thursday, November 26 to Saturday, November 28 at 8pm with a Saturday matinee at 5pm. Tickets: 07977 270788, (£12.50)
