Fame! I’m gonna live forever! I’m gonna learn how to fly (high)! I feel it coming together! People will see me and cry. Baby remember my name, remember, remember, remember, remember.

There, now you won’t be able to get it out of your head, either.

Someone else who can’t stop singing the Fame theme song is Garston-born actor Joseph Giacone, who is currently touring the UK with Bill Kenwright’s production of the musical, playing the part of Joe Vegas, the Spanish acting student who is the comic of the show.

“Joe Vegas is quite cheeky,“ laughs the former St Michael’s Catholic High School in High Elms Lane, “so he’s a bit like me in that respect!“

Joseph, 23, started out at the Stagecoach Theatre Arts School, which is based at Parmiters School in Garston, and where he became a tutor to the other young pupils when he was 16.

He went on to study at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London, along with his older sister Natalie, 26, and where his younger brother, Carl, 20, is currently a student.

“Mountview was a bit like the New York High School of Performing Arts in some ways,“ says Joseph. “They really pushed you and it was really intense. But there wasn’t any spontaneous bursting into song and dance numbers in the canteen or taking over the streets and dancing on top of taxis!“
