Girls with attitude and bad boys have a chance to express themselves at auditions for The Last Daze of St Swithuns, RARE Productions Youth Musical Theatre Group’s summer workshop production at The Alban Arena.
This will be RARE’s first production at the venue and director Andrew Burton is delighted to be there: “The Alban Arena is one of the premier theatres within our catchment area and it will be wonderful for our young cast to have the opportunity to perform there.”
The show, features many Sixties songs such as Great Balls of Fire, At the Hop, Shake a Tail Feather and Shout to name a few and gives more than a passing nod to St Trinians.
“The story concerns the unruly pupils of St Swithuns school for girls, and any resemblance to the girls of that other well-known wild establishment is, of course, entirely deliberate,” says Andrew. “They somehow get involved with a trio of rather incompetent robbers, but all, of course, works out well in the end.”
The auditions are open to young people aged eight to 18. Workshops start on August 22 with performances on August 27.
Auditions will take place at the Alban Arena on June 11 from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. Details: 01727 844488, www.rareproductions.co.uk
