Biography

MP Since - 1997 Majority - 1,148 Born - 09/05/1972. Married, 1 daughter & 1 son.

Education - Loreto College, St Albans; University of Hertfordshire; Brunel University; College of Law London.

Previous Occupation - Part Time clerical/secretarial work (1985-95); Trainee solicitor (1995-98); Solicitor (1998-).

Personal Overview - At 24, she was the youngest new entrant to Parliament of the 1997 intake, and received much associated press coverage. Has obviously risen fast through the Labour Party to obtain selection. Was on the brink of a legal career before entering Parliament. She is a member of the Co-operative Party and the Society of Labour Lawyers, and in addition has an interest in Educational issues. With a peripheral role in the Keith Vaz affair in an internal investigative capacity, she gained a PPS posting following the 2001 Election, later becoming a Government Whip and with a favourable wind was a strong candidate for future ministerial office, something that she achieved at the June 2009 reshuffle.
