Reality television contestants Nicky Maxwell and Tracey Barnard, who appeared in this year's Big Brother, will walk barefoot over hot coals for a Watford charity.

The pair will this week join about 100 others in taking part in the Peace Hospice's firewalk.

The event taking place on Thursday at the Watermill Hotel in Hemel Hempstead will involve participants walking across a 20 foot lane of burning coals.

The hospice's corporate development manager Maggie Grand said: "We have been delighted that this event has caught the imagination of our local supporters.

"The firewalk promises to be a spectacular occasion and I'm sure that there will be a lot of nervous people lining up to do the walk.

"The event has an 100 per centsafety record so we're confident that everyone carrying out the walk will have a great night."

The hospice provides specialist palliative care for people from across South West Hertfordshire with cancer or other terminal illness.
