A large tree has fallen into a busy road in Croxley Green after being hit by a passing lorry.

The incident happened at around 8.30am at the junction of Sarratt Lane and Little Green Lane.

Police and firefighters are currently on the scene and lengthy traffic jams have been reported.

Watford Observer Sports reporter Tim Edwards saw the tree as it fell.

He said: "It happened just in front of me. This lorry came through, clipped the top of the tree and it came down.

"It nearly hit a woman in a Land Rover. A load of guys turned up with saws and have just started cutting it up. The traffic must be going back a mile or two now.

"The lorry just drove straight on."
