Hornets swallow Eustace red card
John Eustace will miss the next three games after Watford decided not to appeal against the red card shown to their captain on Saturday.
Eustace was sent off by Rob Styles in the 21st minute of the goalless draw between Watford and Stoke, his former club, for a high challenge on Richard Cresswell.
The decision appeared harsh but Watford have decided not to run the risk of seeing Eustace's ban extended by appealing, as was the case with Middlesbrough's Jeremie Aliadiere.
"I have spoken to the referee and I have also
spoken to the referee's assessor about the incident," said Aidy Boothroyd.
"For our appeal to be successful we must prove the decision has been a clear error on the referee's part. Whilst we believe it to have been wrong, and both Tony Pulis and Andy Griffin believe it to have been wrong, it's nonetheless a judgement call by Rob Styles and we cannot prove it otherwise."

Bugger!! The next two games are probably the hardest ones left too - who's going to step into his shoes? Let's hope LW can step up to the plate again, or we may kiss goodby to 6 points.

Thanks Styles. You're a disgrace to football. Get over you Napoleon complex or, alternatively, never come back to the Vic ever again. You spoilt the game on Saturday as you spoil every game you referee. What was an exciting game all about who was going to win the League became a game all about you. But then that's what you wanted...pompous git.

Styles should face the firing squad, quite literally. This pathetic little excuse of a man is obviously out to hurt the fans and the players.
However i suspect boofers decided not to appeal becaue of his misplaced faith in the likes of bagura, williamson (total crap) and O'Toole, none of whom are worthy of top championship teams....williamson is a useless disgrace and should be prevented from pulling on a yellow shirt.
Why not go 4-33 then? With smith and MaCanuff occupying slifhtly deeper roles behind a front three of Henderson, Kabba and John? Go to be worth a go.

firstly LW is not my favourite but did well at Bristol & v Stoke & will have to do well to stay in--JJ is excellent -as you must have seen on saturday Colin--oh no you didn`t go did you?
I would play al but 2 young players might not work out well so give LW a go(reluctantly) 4-3-3 an option but not with that line up no ball winners at all!
More JE fault than Styles I feel.

Good idea but, aren't you only allowed 11 on the pitch?
Might get away with it if Styles comes a refereeing again/
For an ex-teacher...you really r fick!!

I'm afraid if you go flying in with a foot raised your liable to be sent off especially if a giligamous **** like Styles is refereeing, challenge wasn't really necessary and gave Styles the chance to be centre stage which is what he craves no doubt he sees us dicussing his performance several days after the event as a personal triumph,I look forward to his warm welcome when he next officiates. He is an A1 toepunt.

"giligamous"--indeed I cannot locate such a word in my extensive reference library, though perhaps the closest is "Gilgamesh", a legendary king of the city of Urek in ancient Sumeria, and hero of an epic story in which he sought (but failed to find) immortality. A bit like Rob Styles then, --he will certainly be long remembered at Vicarage Rd, though hardly as a hero. We need a hero of Mooneyesque proportions to step forward now,as the season reaches a finger-nail on blackboard level of tension, and every game is a cup-final and a half. Eustace will be a loss, but maybe this will allow Bangura or Williamson to show their worth. No time for carping now , supporters!

Sage you made a good point about the Eustace tackle. It allowed Styles to use his discretion which is never good and having seen replays of the JE tackle and the Luke Moore tackle at Albion you can see that refs are following a line from above. In no way does this change my opinion about Styles's abject display on saturday but JE did not help himself.
What annoys me most though was Man U v Portsmouth when Rooney slid in/attacked a player, thankfully missing him with both feet up and studs all showing and stayed on the pitch. One law for the Big 4 and one for the rest of us.
Bangura/williamson and O'Toole all ok and have certainly had their chances to show their worth. I would like to see us improve defensive midfield and wonder whether Bromby or Sadler can play there (anyone know how versatile they are)
with Mariappa or Jordan filling in at the back. Certainly for both the next to away games where points will be hard one. Front four need their shooting boots to be working.

I think williamson will be OK - Bangura is way off the pace and I expect he will be off loaded in the summer. Do not disrupt the back 4. Frankly not keen on DeMerritt at right back, but better than Mariappa (would rather have Doyley). What ever happens lets just pray that Jordan stewart is not put into the starting line up. The man is slow, opinionated, and just hopelessly disinterested. Min concern is up front, with McAnuff not scoring, Smith on course for his normal season of goals, we need to start banging them in, and we can not rely on Shittu scoring from a corner every match. What about Kabba up front - When he has played recently he has shown lots of desire.

I see Jackson played for the reserves last night. Do you think he may go in midfield between O'Toole and the back 4? That would be different. He wouldn't need to be pacey. I think we need somebody experienced in place of JE, but not sure who we've got that could do a good defensive job.

I don't think even Aidy would be giligamous enough to try that.

gents--in briefly then out again but thought I would make some points before voice of the numbskulls gets out on bail!
Chris having a tribe of Man U "armchair " fans for in -laws--I upset them already with my Rooney tackle views-see it same as you.
andy I disagree re JS-slow? he certainly is not nor uncommitted in my view.
would NOT change back four at present--no way will AL B be off loaded--@ Ips he was outstanding--just needs a run of games--dislike LW but has done well in last 2 sub apperearnces & in start @ S Utd. I would pick him or Al
before playing MJ in midfield I would look for a new pair of boots for myself--last used old ones 20 yrs ago!
JJ was excellent v stoke but benefits from aqn experienced player rather than Al with him--DF is due back soon -not keen on him either--of course Rinaldi appears to be out of favour for some reason.

VoR - rather than go back to the other thread, I emailed the FA re PigSty via FAMOA@TheFA.com & had a reply in less than 5 mins. (FAMOA are the FA's Match Official Assoc.) My email + their reply is way too long to post here; the reply covered who assesses ref's, how it's then "shared" with them, etc. Not sure it'll change PigSty inept future displays but helped get it off my chest.

not quite sure what or who you are watching (Colin, St Albans). Lee Williamson was terrific against Stoke, he tackles hard, plays the simple pass, can go past a man and run himself into the ground. Johnny Eustace will be hard to replace but we will still have too much for Plymouth and Hull.

TBB-v Stoke & v Bristo & S utd he was v good--Colin did not go v Stoke & in fgact rarely does go.
However LW is a poor player mostly -he ball watches & drifts out of games & was the biggest issue in our loss of form.
I hope he continues his recent improvement
