Sweet gesture from Cadbury's

More than 20 volunteers from Cadbury Trebor Bassett's Maple Cross Head Quarters took a day off to visit Ashridge Estate in Berkhamsted to carry out essential environmental maintenance work.

The team challenge is part of a national initiative between Cadbury Trebor Bassett and the National Trust, and comes just before a nationwide Easter Egg Trail at National Trust properties over the Easter weekend, encouraging families to venture outdoors and enjoy a range of special Easter trails, with chocolatey prizes up for grabs.

The team spent the day clearing scrub land and wild grasses which are in danger of invading the scenic hillside of the 5,000 acre estate.

The clearance work will help maintain an environment fit for the wildlife who make their home there.

The volunteers are from CTB's marketing department, having all worked on the Easter Egg Trail promotion. The campaign includes a £125,000 cash donation to the National Trust Ancient Woodlands Fund.

The donation is the latest company-wide investment in the National Trust; in 2007 alone, more than 100 employees across the country gave up time to carry out environmental team challenges at properties close to CTB sites.

Michael Cunniffe, CommUnity Champion for Maple Cross, said: "Our commitment to the National Trust is growing each year, and the volunteering team from Maple Cross really enjoyed getting in to the great outdoors and doing their bit in Berkhamsted.

"Easter is traditionally our busiest time of year so it was a good opportunity to get out of the office and celebrate a hectic few months.

"It's also important we help clear up our own back yard for people in the local area who want to come and enjoy Ashridge Estate over the Easter break and get involved with the Easter Egg trail."

Berkhamsted - Maple Cross - Watford - is there a connection only known to the Watford Observer? How about some "Watford" news

And all the wrappers that are in the Easter Eggs are bio-degradable??
Not the plastic inserts that I got with my Cadbury's easter eggs!!!
Just another attempt for a company to jump on the Green Bandwagon!
If they really wanted to be green, then stop using plastics in the packaging!!
